Day 23 – Oak Alley Plantation to New Orleans

Did not leave Oak Alley until 09.30 as breakfast was not until 08.30.

Cycled 16miles past other Plantations such as Laura and we took the Edgard-Reserve Ferry across the Mississippi. Then biked along River road for several miles, rode across the Bonnet Carre Spillway and got onto a Levee bike path.Robin joined me and we were afforded great views of the river with some huge cargo tankers.

We met a local guy called Elvis who rode with us for a couple of miles.I was able to point  out places I know to Robin.

We got to Audubon Park and led Ian and Robin down into New Orleans where we caught the Algiers Ferry across to the West Bank.

I then managed to negotiate the 5 or 6 miles were we took the Chalmette Ferry back over the river and cycled to the Best Western and met up with Paul who has a workshop round the corner.

Miles covered today just over 68miles.

Thanks to David Holder,Louisa and Roddie,Ann and Brian,Hannah,Charlotte,Gemma,Val and Dad,Michelle Trahan from Oak Alley and finally Elvis for his company today.
